Hi, this picture is one of my digital composite project on 2009.
It was published on fotografer.net http://www.fotografer.net/isi/galeri/lihat.php?id=1031289 and luckily I got the FPE (Editor’s Choice). Thanks for all supports, friends. ^0^
This little girl name Aimee, my best friend’s daughter. Yes, she’s a girl. Some people though she’s a boy, because of her short haircut..

I took this picture in one of ice cream shop in Bali. Yeah, we’re during holiday that time and it was basically just a documentary picture.
That time we, me and her mommy were had a plan to establish the Picapic Photography, a photo service for baby & family in Jakarta area.
So, I just practicing, practicing and practicing all the time with her. And this picture is made because I was inspired by her eating behavior.
This little girl is totally loves to eat, she’s not a cranky girl at all. That’s why she’s become my first model for Baby Photography… Cute isn’t she?

Hi, does this place look familiar to you? Yeap! It’s the Selamat Datang Monument (Selamat Datang is Indonesian for “Welcome”), also known as the Welcome Monument.
Completed in 1962, Selamat Datang Monument is one of the historic landmarks of Jakarta. It is located in the center of a roundabout known as Bundaran Hotel Indonesia or Bundaran HI (Indonesian for “Hotel Indonesia Roundabout”). It is so named because of its proximity to Hotel Indonesia. At its completion, Hotel Indonesia and its roundabout is the gateway for visitors of Jakarta. The roundabout features a pond with fountains. Okay, I think it’s enough about the historical tidbits of this monument.

Now, how did I take this picture? It was 6 pm when I took these shots. Sunset time or golden hours in Jakarta is very damn short. You should come earlier in this place and wait for the perfect moment. Otherwise you will stuck with the 3in1 rule in Sudirman street. It’s a panoramic picture with 6 photos stitched together, each frame is using my 14-24mm lens.

There’s usually one similar question among my friends. It’s ‘Why you do photo stitching? Can’t it simply be taken with 1 frame picture only?’
Okay, lemme try to explain. First of all before you are doing this panoramic picture, you should get to know and familiarize with the location.
Is this a very huge or not that huge area? Does your lens range is wide enough to capture all in one frame or not?
If it can be captured in 1 frame, the next step is to ask yourself about the purpose of this picture.
Because you will probably do some cropping, which could make the picture size smaller than it was originally.

If you just want to display it in your blog or your Facebook, then it will be and should be enough. But If you want to have it printed in a big size then please do the stitching technique.

The next question is the distortion. Distortion sometime have a different way presenting itself in your picture.
For me to capture all these buildings I would try my best to keep all the line in a perfect straight line vertically and horizontally.
I’m using the Multiflexer head on my tripod. It’s easier for me to do leveling and it’s helping me a lot to reduce the distortion.
Or if you have the PC (Perspective Control) lens, sure it will help you to reduce the distortion as well.

The last thing you must consider is about the special effect of photo stitching. Some people don’t realize that photo stitching can produce some unique effects.
To find a foreground in stitching technique will create some unique effect in your picture. Therefore, just give it a try! Have a fun experience, friends

I took this picture last year in Bromo, East Java Indonesia. Very beautiful place and very friendly people. This guy’s name is Fadil and the horse is Sultan. He is a famous horse rider.
I can see his picture is shown everywhere. He’s a very nice and warm person. Thank you so much for your cooperation in taking this picture, Fadil. You did a very great job..

Hi, Merry Christmas, my friends … !!
It’s only two days to go before 2012 … Excited?!
I am excited..! As excited as I could be with my new toy…
The Sony NEX-5N.

Do you see the picture on the left side? It was taken with Sony NEX-5N at 3200 ISO using simply the Kit lens 18-55mm and in 1/1000th of a second! It’s so surprisingly nice, and after using it for a week or so, it has impressed me very much with its abilities.

Probably you’re wondering what made me consider to buy this amazing gear? I currently own a Nikon 3Ds and it’s already a monster of a camera. Not only it’s capable of producing clear and superb quality images, it’s also one of the most highly regarded low light shooter.

However, due to it’s build that’s very rigid and a bit on the heavy side, I can’t always take it with me. You know the saying that the best cameras are the ones that are available with you the moment it’s required. So, I have been pondering to purchase another small sized camera as my second take-anywhere shooter.

As much as I love my Nikon 3Ds, when doing light travel I often had to leave it behind because it’s pretty heavy and not exactly discreet for street use. I will not just buy some random small camera, it has to have a pack on image quality and able to perform on quite a low light settings. In the past I’ve also been annoyed because usually compact cameras have very sluggish start up time and long shutter lag, I have to make sure to chose the fastest one in operational sense.

After doing plenty of research and comparing myriad of samples on the internet, I have made a shortlist consists of the new Fuji X10, Panasonic LX-5, and lastly the NEX-5N. However, after stumbling on this link here: CameraLabs Review Verdict my mind is set on the Nex-5N. Lab test shows that it’s the best performing mirror-less camera in the market with the worlds shortest shutter lag ! Just what I needed.

Problem is, apparently there’s not many stock available of this camera, especially since I prefer the silver one instead of the black color. After going to several reputable stores, finally last week, I can get my hands on this pretty little beauty. Even after all that, the problem is not finished, because the store clerk was pushing his own agenda to sell me Nex-5, probably thinking what do girls know about camera!!

Anyway, If you observe the image above, you probably can’t tell it was shot at ISO 3200 and in JPEG only format. I can honestly say that the quality in real low light and higher ISO was pretty damn good even compared to my previous APS-C sized DSLRs (Nikon D300 and D70). Considering Nex-5N is really small and light, and the super short shutter lag, I’ve been immediately falling in love with it.

Some friends asked me though, why I chose NEX-5N instead of the newer NEX-7. After careful consideration and observing lab comparison, it became clear to me that at High ISO setting the NEX-5N absolutely outperform the NEX-7. Even though NEX-7 uses a newer sensor technology, Sony’s decision to cram the whole 24 mega pixel on an APS-C sized sensor seems like a wrong move on Sony part. At ISO 3200 it’s just obvious that there are noticeable more noises on the NEX-7 than on the little sibling 5N. See before your self in here.

I am also planning to purchase the NEX-mount adapters for it to use with manual legacy lenses and even my current Nikon lens line up. One of the thing that seems very promising for me (not having the chance to test it yet) is the ability to do focus peaking, which I am certain will be very helpful on achieving focus manually. That also got me very excited of the possibility to experiments with legacy lenses and their unique bokeh.

So, stay tune for more. I promise you I will update this diary section, in coming days, with results of my new toy, The Sony NEX-5N.

Hi, this is the Le Bridge. One of the most famous spots for plenty of wedding photographers and enthusiasts in Jakarta.
From this place you can get both the sunrise and sunset view with this small cafe shop with a unique tent like structure as the point of interest.
This place is usually jam packed, crowded with domestic tourist at the weekend and during public holidays.

In morning time you can meet a lot of people who lived nearby Le Bridge having their exercise by walking, running and cycling.
And during the afternoon time you can spot some couples dating in here too … Haha …

By the way, this shot was such a lucky shot. Because I didn’t really prepare much for hunting. I was just passing by this location and luckily it was a very beautiful sunset out there.
I especially like the complexion of the clouds and the colors surrounding the cafe. Hope you like it too
